Why sunglasses are expensive

I cross the border and get my eye exam for 10 bucks in Juarez Mexico. I come back put my prescription on an online website, get the frames I like, and boom 20 to 30 bucks for a good set of glasses mailed withing the week.

yeah they want to discourage you from spending your money on direct competitors. private optometrist offices can’t compete with zenni.

at our office we don’t write the pd on our scripts unless they specifically ask the dr because it’s not usually his job to do it, it’s the optician’s. if they come back and ask i’ll give it to ’em because it doesn’t matter to us where they get the glasses made.

it’s also not hard to measure it yourself at home.

And this is how it is should be done. Let’s face it, it is not heart surgery. If we have a right to a lawyer, we should have the right to basic healthcare including a basic eye exam. The real problem with luxottica glasses that the actual lens are garbage almost all of them with the exception like Oliver Peoples. Who are actually real opticians making only frames and lenses.

I was a great employee, not to mention a state licensed optician in Florida.

I was subjected to so much bullshit bureaucracy and in the end sent home without pay on an HR investigation for cursing at another employee. It’s an incredibly shitty company that treats its employees like garbage. Might as well work at Wal-Mart. After two weeks they finally asked me to come back, and I walked right in and quit.

As a side note, while the quality of the lenses they use at LC is higher, the employee turnover rate and generally low moral ensures that your product is made by someone who genuinely dislikes and is fairly terrible at their job. These are literally the people verifying your Rx before you go and DRIVE IN YOUR GLASSES. smh

I have an awesome new job now working on a college campus. All the patients are super smart and we give great deals (free lens with frame purchase , some frames under $100). And while we do still offer $500-$1000 pairs of glasses, they are basically frames that an astronaut would wear and people are happy as fuck with them.
